Jessica Todd psa-texting

Video storytelling is a great way for students to be creative and share ideas through a movie. The vidoes allow students to inform others on a topic that they are passionate about or something they believe is important. Kelly, Madison, and I did our video on why people should not text while driving. We showed facts, a video graphic video clip, and why safety is important. I would like to use vidoes frequently in my classroom because it allows the students to work with technology, lets them be cr… Continue

Chris Morr Public Service Announcment

For our little project we decided to make a video on the techincal and saftey aspect of weightlifting. One of us played the expert in the video that demonstrated the lift. Then we did a voice over to explain everything we did. All this is tied in with important issues that are a concern in the world today, a major one being obesity. Young students need to be taught how to work out properly so that they can do it themselves and carry on doing it when they get older as the population gets literall… Continue

Caley Chestnut Public Service Announcement

Our Public Service Announcement was showing the great things about Sterling. It highlighted fun places to go and things to do in this town. We could show it to a prospective student in order to convince them to come to Sterling, as well as our parents or current students to show them new things to do that they didn't know about. We didn't show anything negative, and if we wanted it to be completely thorough, we would have put the pluses AND minuses of this town in the video. I would use this vid… Continue

Sarah Thomas Public Service Annoucement

We did our PSA over H1N1 Care and Prevention. We went through 4 different steps including how to prevent from getting sick and what to do if you are sick. I thought that this was a great idea with it being flu season. Each new day, more people in the US are getting H1N1. Because this video deals with health, I can easily see myself using something like this in my classroom. Continue

Candice Williams Publice Service Announcement

In our PSA we expressed how we felt about Sterling. It is clear and evident that each of us like and enjoy Sterling. We expressed the positive things about Sterling. Nothing negative was mentioned about Sterling, that is something that should be added to the video to make it complete. This PSA can change someone's mind to come to Sterling College. It could show them all the things that there are to do in the little town of Sterling and help them to make their decision as to where they want to at… Continue

Clayton Wayne McEachern Public service announcement

We decided to create a public service announcement over the importance of safety and wight training. Proper form of lifting is one of the most essential aspects to not get hurt while lifting. So we decided to use an expert, Chris Morr, to demonstrate the proper form of a few main lifts. We are also trying to promote the importance of exercise, in an effort to diminish the growing epidemic of obesity in America. Hopefully the message is received through the demonstration and the dialogue added to… Continue

Benjamin Carl Oberle "Green Screen" Project

For our "green screen" project, we decided to make a public service announcement about the safety of weight lifting. The safety dealt mostly with form and how you are supposed to lift weights without injuring yourself. A good way to communicate the ideas effectively is to have a video of someone doing a lift, while another person is talking as the lift is being performed. This is what we did. One person was lifting, one person was filming, and then the other person provided the voice-overs. Each… Continue

Mac McDonald Video Storyteling

Video storytelling can definitely have a huge impact on how students enjoy education and add zap to lesson that can traditionally wear the attention of a student down. It is genious also because it alows students to be creative and think outside the box. Lesson do not only come from lectures and the traditional forms of teaching. Innoveation has arrived and it is really taking over. This also gives the teacher incentive as well. Creating the video was fun, however it takes an extra effort from t… Continue

Melissa Larson Video Storytelling

When I first started this assignment I was a little scared that I was not going to do very well. I had never worked on a software like this and I had certainly not ever made a movie before. I ended up using Windows Movie Maker which turned out to be very simple and easy to understand how to use. I came up with my topic and after I had found my pictures, filmed and found the right music it was a breeze to finish up the project. I think that video storytelling is a fun a creative activity for stud… Continue

Melissa Larson PSA (Sterling Kansas)

I think that it is very important to communicate openly and directly especially with ones students. They way that one can communicate their ideas clearly is to have them written down. Write down what you expect of our students and also what they will be graded on so there is no room for confusion. Also reiterate what you want to students to accomplish, they should not have to guess as to what you are looking for in an assignment but rather no exactly what needs to be done. I think that communica… Continue

Madison Lucas PSA VIDEO (texting while driving)

I think to communicate your ideas you need to have lots of information and facts for students to see. A lot of PSA videos are to inform people, so when you have a lot of information and your facts, it gets your point across clearly so students will know what youre talking about. From our PSA video we wanted to get the lifestyle of texting while driving and how dangerous it is. Since so many teens are inexperience drivers, more distractions are not better. Even adults who text and drive it is not… Continue

Kelly Curtis PSA Video

I think that they communicate their ideas clearly by stating clear facts and having a clear video that explains what they want to get across. Ideas are presented very clearly when it comes to texting while driving. There are very clear facts showing the point of view of the creator. The video presented in the message is very detailed and gives a great description of what happens if one would text while they are driving. Every time I get a text while I am driving I think of this video and it has… Continue

Tyler Burnett Video Story Telling

Video storying telling the the classroom could be something that is very useful for students to do. I think in my classroom I personally won't do much of it for the students but I think that if the students did it to report on a project it could be good and also use integration very well. To me as the teacher making the story line is something I didn't really enjoy or get into but I can see students really enjoying it and getting into it. For them it would be something more then just a post boar… Continue

Jessica Todd storytelling

I like this Assignment because it allows students to be creative. Many events and people have changed the world, I chose to make a video over 9-11 and the war in Iraq because it was a major change that happened here in the U.S. but also effects others too. Many have died but should not be forgotten. So in memory of all those who died or have suffered from this and continue to suffer thank you. Continue

Kelly Curtis Digital Story Telling

I thought this assignment was going to be so hard and boring but I ended up really liking this assignment. I like to make slide shows and movies like this because I think they are so fun and entertaining to do. The final product always looks so good. I also liked this assignment because it allows us to show different ideas and pictures of how people effect the lives of others. Movie maker is a good way to express your feelings by choosing pictures that may effect your life and choosing songs to… Continue

Sarah Thomas Digital Story- YouthFriend

When first hearing about this assignment, I was completely lost on what exactly I was supposed to do and also what I would do my video over. After finally understanding the assignment, I chose to do a digital story over YouthFriends. Once I got started on the video, I had a blast creating and perfecting it to the best of my ability. I think Digital Stories are a great idea for the classroom, not only for providing the students with new information, but allowing them to come up with their own ide… Continue

Candice Williams Digital Story Telling

I will be honest, I was completely dreading this assignment. I don't think of myself as a very creative person and definately lack in the technology knpw-how. The hardest part of this project, for me, was to just get started. Once I picked a theme and actually started building my movie, it was easy. I like my final project and hope that others do to. I downloaded PhotoStory3 from the Microsoft website and that is what I used to create my story. It was very user friendly and the tutorial was basi… Continue

Bailey Fricks video movie maker

This was the first time that I have ever used any type of movie maker and I really thought that it would be a lot harder than it was. I didnt realize how fast and easy it actually was to make a movie. I think that this is a good tool to use in my classroom. It would make lessons fun and more interesting for my students. I think that because it is so quick and easy to make a movie, it will be more helpful throughout lessons. Continue

Benjamin Carl Oberle Digital Storytelling Project

This was the first time I have used Windows Movie Maker so it took me a little while to get used to it and understand what all it could do. It wasn't very difficult to put slides together; it was actually easier than I expected. But one thing I did have trouble with was when I added text to be displayed on a certain slide. I added it to the selected slide but then whenever I deleted a slide or added a slide, it messed up the timing of everything. I thought that when I clicked add text to the sel… Continue
