The discussion video was interesting. I think it's sad though. I think we've become way too focused and dependent on technology. The part about kids using technology so much at such a young age is especially pathetic: "In any given day 68% of child…

Creativity and Technology-- A Perfect Match

Hello Superintendent Mathes. My name is Megan Derowitsch. I am currently attending Sterling College in Sterling, KS. I will be graduating next spring with a Bachelors Degree in both Art and Education. Art has always been my passion and I've been making art since I could hold a crayon. I love all types of art media-- pencil, charcoal, chalk, acrylic, watercolor, clay, ink... and the list goes on. I love to try new ways to use materials I am already familiar with and am always open for trying my h… Continue

Google Earth

I never really had much experience using Google Earth until we tried it out in class. I really like it! I had no idea what you could use it for! I would like to mess with it more because I think it could be a great learning tool. You can travel all over the world without leaving the classroom!
I'm sure I could use it to show different places around the world when talking about different cultures' art. I really don't know what else is available for me with Google Earth since I haven't used it muc… Continue

PodCasts

I unfortunately missed the class on Pod Casts last Monday due to dress rehearsal for the play. This was disappointing because I know very little about Pod casts. I wanted to learn more about them since we will be doing the PSA PodCasts. Honestly, I have no idea how to make one. I think they are a very effective and helpful tool to use. I just wish I could've been there to learn more about them!

Class Discussion Video

The discussion video was interesting. I think it's sad though. I think we've become way too focused and dependent on technology.

The part about kids using technology so much at such a young age is especially pathetic: "In any given day 68% of children under two will use a screen media, for an average of just over two hours."

Why do people insist on letting technology babysit their kids? Or let the technology teach them to read and learn their colors?

It seems (and this is just my opinion) lik… Continue
