As an educator and implementation mentor for thirteen years, I want to provide opportunities for students that are aspiring to become educators an insight to education outside of their campus walls. There are as many young teachers as there are veteran teachers that are not familiar with methods to implement technology in a successful manner. As a result, I strongly believe that implementation of technology is not an inherited trait. Thus, future educators need to develop a solid understanding of the 21st Century skills needed to be successful in education.
Here is what I envision at this time in developing the "Future Teachers Scouting Site" with Kevin Honeycutt. Future educators will use this learning community to communicate with current educators and administration to discuss matters that cannot be truly understood in textbooks and manuals. Those inspiring to become successful educators would develop and maintain their pages as online resumes and methods for schools districts to learn more about the candidate as a person and not just an application that has been mailed in for a position opening. I realize that some students may not earn a position with a district that participates in this website but if that future teacher learns methods of classroom management, philosophical insight, and strategies to implement technology, the future of U.S. education will be bright.
As a student from Sterling College or other college education programs begin their voyage on the path to become our next educators, what do you want to see this website provide you as a "Student Educator"? Superintendents, how do you see this site being a benefit for you? Also, what can you provide to members of the Future Teachers Scouting Site?
